About Us

Whether you are looking for a room for the night or a holiday let for a large group, a warm welcome awaits you at Colchester’s Baye House, a charming property in West Stockwell Street.

We are just steps away from the High Street shops and restaurants and Colchester Castle with its beautiful landscaped park grounds. Ideally located in the historic dutch quarter, a short walk to cultural attractions, museums, First Site Gallery, the Mercury Theatre and Arts Centre. A short ride to Colchester Zoo, the general hospital, Essex University, Constable Country and the coast.

The house is spacious, light and full of character and in an attractive street overlooking a medieval church. We have a lovely garden enclosed by a high wall with lounge seating and woodland play area where our cat Hargreaves likes to stroll around.

If you like a quirky welcoming laid back b&b, you're in for a treat. Annie is a marvellous host. I visited with three close friends for a birthday treat and Annie even gave my friend a birthday card!
The house is in the Dutch quarter of Colchester, so obviously very old with floors that are eccentric and uneven. The interior design is stylishly mix and match which I loved. There's a fab garden with furniture to lounge on or a lovely sitting room to relax in with a glass of wine before you head out to any one of several restaurants within easy walking distance.
Breakfast is superb and we had a truly wonderful time. I will definitely return.
